Biography of James Booker
James Booker was an American pianist and singer from New Orleans, celebrated as a prodigious "Piano Prince" whose playing was a virtuosic fusion of classical, rhythm and blues, gospel, and jazz, delivered with flamboyant theatricality. Despite severe personal struggles and a career spent mostly as a sideman, he profoundly influenced the New Orleans music scene and musicians like Harry Connick Jr., who he famously tutored.
