Biography of Jacques Loussier
Jacques Loussier (1934–2019) was a French pianist and composer who pioneered a hugely successful fusion of classical music and jazz, most famously creating jazz interpretations of Johann Sebastian Bach's works with his Play Bach Trio, which sold over 7 million records and performed more than 3,000 concerts worldwide. A classically trained virtuoso, his career extended far beyond Bach to include over 100 film scores, compositions for ballet and orchestra, and work at his own studio with artists like Pink Floyd. Though his "third stream" style was sometimes controversial with purists, his accessible and inventive approach made him one of the best-selling jazz artists of his generation.
