Biography of Eugen Cicero
Eugen Cicero was a Romanian-German jazz pianist nicknamed "Mister Golden Hands," renowned for pioneering a "Classic-Swing" style that brilliantly fused the works of classical composers like Bach, Mozart, and Chopin with swing rhythms and jazz improvisation. A child prodigy who performed a Mozart concerto at age six and trained at the National Conservatory in Bucharest, he defected to West Berlin in 1962, where his solo career took off after his million-selling debut album Rokoko-Jazz (1965). He won the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis in 1976, produced over 70 recordings, enjoyed immense popularity in Japan, and was the father of the renowned jazz singer Roger Cicero.
