Biography of Eldar Djangirov
Eldar Djangirov is a Kyrgyzstan-born American jazz pianist, a child prodigy who was discovered at age nine and became the youngest performer ever on Marian McPartland's NPR show Piano Jazz at age twelve. His playing is characterized by prodigious technical skill and deep knowledge of the bebop tradition, drawing comparisons to Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson, and he has been praised for his "beyond staggering" command of the instrument. Signed to Sony Masterworks as a teenager, his career includes a Grammy nomination for his album Re-imagination and collaborations with jazz greats like Michael Brecker, Chris Botti, and Joshua Redman.
